Dear Friend of the national parks,
NPCA has been working alongside a large coalition of local Tribes, governments, scientists, conservation organizations and many others to expand Joshua Tree National Park and establish the Chuckwalla National Monument. Last month, the Secretary of the Interior visited the region to hear from stakeholders on the proposal. We are very close to securing these protections!
The expansion of Joshua Tree would return roughly 17,000 acres that were removed from the park in the 1940s. The Chuckwalla National Monument would preserve 627,000 acres between Joshua Tree National Park and the Colorado River. Both landscapes are of great cultural and ecological significance and provide spectacular recreational experiences.
As a supporter of our national parks and public lands, please attend this virtual briefing to learn how you can help get these protections across the finish line.
