What: A day celebrating and connecting with LGBTQ+ park lovers

On June 29 and 30, join NPCA and Mikah Meyer of @MikahMey for Pride in Our Parks day trips! We’re heading an urban oasis just 35 miles outside Chicago, Indiana Dunes National Park. We’ll spend the day exploring the park’s dynamic ecosystems and swimming in Lake Michigan, all while celebrating our LGBTQ+ community. Mikah will even share tips for capturing stellar park photos and sharing your #PrideInOurParks story.

With our partner, Underwood, we’re inviting the LBGTQ+ community on free day trips in three different national parks, led by NPCA staff and featuring some of your favorite outdoor influencers. Each day will be a unique experience with a different audience in mind, all to ensure parks are spaces for all to experience and enjoy. We ask that you join just one day to maximize the number of community members who get to partake in these experiences.

These events are completely free! NPCA will provide lunch, transportation around the park. We'll cover the cost of your park entry – plus a Pride in our Parks shirt!

Underwood

NPCA’s partner Underwood believes in the importance of ensuring that national parks are inclusive spaces for all. Since 2014, Underwood has protected natural resources by producing wine in infinitely recyclable aluminum cans. In support of NPCA’s mission to ensure all our welcome in our parks, Underwood is donating $25,000 to NPCA.

Our Host: Mikah

Mikah

Adventurer Mikah Meyer (@mikahmey) grew up on the plains of Nebraska, exploring the outside world via the Travel Channel and hoping to see someone like him on screen. Now, he gets to provide the outdoorsman representation he wished for, working with outdoor brands and tourism bureaus to increase LGBTQ+ inclusion in adventure culture. He uses a Masters in Classical Singing to perform shows about the queer outdoors experience and his journey to America’s 400+ National Park Service sites.
