Connect with LGBTQ+ park lovers and explore Biscayne National Park with NPCA! This June marks our fourth annual #PrideInOurParks campaign, celebrating stories from the LGBTQ+ community in our national parks – and for our second year in a row, we’re taking you to the parks with us.

When: Saturday June 1, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (18+) and Sunday June 2, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (family-friendly)

What: A day celebrating and connecting with LGBTQ+ park lovers

On June 1 and 2, join NPCA and Chris Peskosky and Alex Murphy of @itschrisandalex for Pride in Our Parks day trips! We’re heading to the largest marine park in the National Park System, Biscayne. We’ll spend the day exploring the small land-based portion of the park, then get out (and in!) the water, all while celebrating our LGBTQ+ community. Chris and Alex will even share tips for capturing stellar park photos and sharing your #PrideInOurParks story.

With our partner, Underwood, we’re inviting the LBGTQ+ community on free day trips in three different national parks, led by NPCA staff and featuring some of your favorite outdoor influencers. Each day will be a unique experience with a different audience in mind, all to ensure parks are spaces for all to experience and enjoy. We ask that you join just one day to maximize the number of community members who get to partake in these experiences.

These events are completely free! NPCA will provide lunch, transportation around the park. We'll cover the cost of your park entry – plus a Pride in our Parks shirt for you!

Free Pride Month event at Biscayne National Park.
These events are designed for smaller groups so everyone has the best experience possible. That does mean space is limited and we’ll accept participants on a first-come-first-served basis.

June 1 is 18+ event.
June 2 is a family-friendly event. Children 7 and up are welcome when accompanied by an 18+ family member or guardian.

NPCA's work centers around ensuring everyone feels welcome and included in our national parks. We're proud to support the LGBTQ+ community all year, uplifting the voices and visions of LGBTQ+ creators, and continually working to protect history with national park sites like Stonewall National Monument.

NPCA’s partner Underwood believes in the importance of ensuring that national parks are inclusive spaces for all. Since 2014, Underwood has protected natural resources by producing wine in infinitely recyclable aluminum cans. In support of NPCA’s mission to ensure all our welcome in our parks, Underwood is donating $25,000 to NPCA.

Please note: All participants will be required to sign NPCA's standard liability waiver and photo release. Trip requirements are subject to change. All NPCA Staff-led experiences will be defined by the NPCA staff member. Each participant is responsible for determining their preferred activity level, accessibility, needs and interests. The June 1 event includes a moderate walk and guided snorkeling experience. You must know how to swim to participate. Fins must be worn by all participants as a safety precaution. There is a maximum weight limit of 272 pounds to participate. Participants must be able to climb a four-step vertical ladder without assistance. The June 2 event includes a moderate event and an ADA-accessible boat tour.

Our Hosts: Chris & Alex

Chris and Alex are a queer couple of digital storytellers and outdoors enthusiasts based out of New Jersey. With professional backgrounds in the television industry, they use their skills and platform to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, showcase queer love, and promote LGBTQ+ travel. The couple’s mission is to encourage others to experience new places, peoples, and cultures, as they believe travel is a tool to disarm discrimination. Above all, they aim to be the visibility and representation they needed when they were younger, and to show others that LBGTQ+ people have a place in the outdoors!
