What the Election Means for Parks

Event Details:

For more than 100 years, NPCA has been the independent, nonpartisan voice for our national parks, working across the aisle to ensure our parks not only survive but thrive. Each new Congress brings change and with that new opportunities to ensure our parks and their history, habitat and wildlife remain protected for future generations. With this election comes a modern record number of new members of Congress who will take office in January, making this a critical moment for national parks.

Join us on November 16 for a virtual Park Talk to learn about the impact of the election earlier this month and hear from our expert staff about how NPCA is preparing for the year ahead so that we continue to be fearless, outspoken champions for our shared landscapes and history. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions as well as learn how you can start 2027 in the best position to do your part to protect parks.

Featured Speaker:

Edward Stierli, Vice President of Government Affairs

Ed Stierli joined NPCA in 2012 and became Vice President of Government Affairs in 2026. He leads NPCA's Government Affairs department, supporting a talented team of experts who drive the organization's legislative and administrative policy priorities, and represents NPCA with Congress, federal agencies, partners, and the media.

Ed brings more than 15 years of experience directing advocacy campaigns for conservation and education, with a focus on public lands, the protection of historic and cultural resources, and park funding. He is passionate about safeguarding the landscapes, battlefields, memorials, and cultural sites that make up the National Park System, making parks inclusive, welcoming, and accessible to all, and about ensuring the laws and policies that protect them are upheld.

As NPCA’s Senior Regional Director for the Mid-Atlantic, he led a team protecting parks across five states and the District of Columbia, advancing park-protection policies, establishing new national park sites, and securing funding for critical projects. Earlier at NPCA, he coordinated conservation advocacy across the Chesapeake Bay watershed, launched the “Freedom to Float” campaign, and directed the “Find Your Voice” initiative during the National Park Service Centennial. Between his two tenures, Ed served as Senior Director of State and Electoral Campaigns for the Save the Children Action Network, expanding its field and electoral program, and earlier held roles with the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Alliance for Climate Protection (now the Climate Reality Project).
